The Jesus of Holy Monday is, for many people, their favorite Jesus. This is the Jesus who finally gets angry, confronts injustice, & overturns tables pro wrestling style.

We love this Jesus because we want to be this Jesus. But we are not Jesus in this story. We are the temple.

"NOT SO AMONG YOU" (Mark 10:43) We will not get any where on evangelicalism's intoxication with power, til we deal with the theology that ignores Jesus, and enables it.

This is a brutal Ash Wednesday.
Destruction and evil are all around.

If anyone tells me that I came from ash & will return to it, I may laugh at them. Or cry & not stop. I hope I don’t hit the priest. Because - read the room people - we’re in ash up to our knees.

2,000 years after it was first asked, the question, “And who is my neighbor?” (Luke 10:29) is one of the simplest ways to assess the degree to which we take the teachings of Jesus seriously.

You will hear many calls for unity.

Philippians 2 tells us how true unity happens: by all parties giving up selfish ambition and putting each others' interests before their own. By mutual submission.

If someone calls for you to unify with them but is not willing to do this, is it unity they want?
