"If you grow an acre of corn, it will produce 900gal of ethanol, which will get you about 25k miles for a Ford F-150 pickup ...But let’s say we put solar on that same acre. It will produce enough electricity every year to drive my Lightning 550k miles”

"China has overtaken Detroit as the center of the global auto industry. America can embark on an all-out push to rebuild world-class manufacturing and supply chains, or our carmakers can hide behind tariffs, continue making gas-powered trucks and S.U.V.s and fade into irrelevance."

"We need to trade in the language of limits for the language of leverage."

Don’t say “sustainability.” Say “stability”: in supply chains, in local economies, in your energy bills.
Don’t say “renewables.” Say “American-made power.”
Don’t say “clean energy transition.” Say “next-gen infrastructure.”
Want to fix climate change? Stop talking about saving the planet. | Opinion
The language we use to talk about climate change is too abstract, too politicized and too divorced from the things most Americans actually care about.

Pakistan has rejected India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and says any attempt to violate its rights over the waters will be considered “an act of war”.

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

It's hard to believe that humanity is at a place where a headline like this, to our peril, is merely met with a yawn... Earth is now retaining profuse excess heat - the equiavlent of a million nuclear bombs per day - in our climate system. Today’s Berardelli Bonus

California just debunked a big myth about renewable energy — Grist
One of the biggest myths about renewable energy is that it isn’t reliable. Sure, the sun sets every night and winds calm down, putting solar panels and turbines to sleep.

Los Angeles received just 0.16 inches of rain since May 2024, the second-driest period on record.

Wildfires are now engulfing the city in January.

But some politicians still claim the climate crisis is a "hoax" as they do the bidding of Big Oil.

What planet are they living on?

I'm holding an 8' 2x4 in my profile pic as it shows about how much wood you'd need to grow to sequester the C from a gallon of gasoline. Gas is 87% carbon by weight, so a 6 pound gallon of gas has 5.5 pounds of carbon in it. If that C was converted to graphite (which is pure C), it'd look like this:
