With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.
I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.

I got to be an external reviewer for NEH summer stipends. 2 things I noticed:
1) There is an overwhelming surplus of groundbreaking research being conducted in the humanities by scholars at all employment levels. It was a nearly impossible task to say which projects were more "deserving" of support

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.
