Love is strength.

Hate is weakness.

Hate takes effort.

Love is effortless.

“The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.
An evil soul producing holy witness
Is like a villain with a smiling cheek,
A goodly apple rotten at the heart:
O, what a goodly outside falsehood hath!”

There is nothing quite so humbling as drinking colonoscopy prep at 3:00 a.m. It going to be a magic day!

Oncology checkup (6.2 years since diagnosis, 5.6 years since start of treatment, 5.2 years since end of treatment): white count low (which is normal) but lower than usual, hemoglobin excellent, platelets low (which is normal) and steady, lymphocytes low (which is normal) and steady. All is good!

Today is day 4 of my summer recovery period and I have yet to take more than one nap on the same day. I don’t even know who I am anymore.
May 30, 2025 at 10:18 PM
I have completed my first “summer recovery” nap. I have less physical and mental fatigue than in recent years. I give credit to geocaching and the boost it has given to my physical and mental stamina.

I just won’t mention that it took my mind about 13 seconds to come up with the word “stamina.”

I’m coming up on six years since my leukemia diagnosis date (Wednesday). I have put forth great effort to remain positive. I have learned to give myself grace when I must rest.

Leukemia fatigue is physically draining. Teaching fatigue is mentally draining. Being outdoors helps me combat both types of fatigue. Two months ago I started geocaching.

Dwarf planet Makemake averages 7 billion kilometers distant from the sun with a temperature of -243°C. However, according to my students, Makemake is still warmer and brighter than a calculus teacher's heart.

Today’s calm morning includes some lovely tea (black dragon pearls from Adagio Teas), feline antics, fun conversations with Hawkeye and Caspian, and the relaxation that comes from a surprisingly serene mind.

I’ll take more of this, please.

Eleven years ago, my boys helped me celebrate Banned Books Week. It is fitting that two of them are reading books that are the source of their name.
