I feel like I need to write a blog post analyzing how Miyazaki uses dramatic questions, inverted dramatic questions, resonance, and catharsis in Totoro. It's really a masterpiece of storytelling—I learned a lot watching it!
Just watched My Neighbor Totoro for the first time. My god; I've rarely seen a film that understood character-driven storytelling so well. Absolutely beautiful, both narratively and artistically.

(clearly I need to watch more Miyazaki films)
