Because being a member of the group who the law protects but does not bind, even if unintentionally, rots your character
Why is getting caught for breaking the rule the thing that feels like a violation fo the social contract and not breaking the law, is a real question I have on a conceptual level

I tried to hike to this reservoir once and ended up having to climb a 10ft fence to escape the estate neighboring Pharrell's place in order to get back to paved roads
Tried to jog around a reservoir I found on Google maps and ended up doing 8k on roads without sidewalks!!!

Cops in Waltham, MA have shut down the city for TWO DAYS for a police funeral - and forced the schools to close at short notice because the cops commandeered the school buses for the event!
