Ireland’s new asylum legislation could take away the basic human rights of children, families & people seeking international protection.

But together, we can change course.

Nearly 1 in 5 construction workers in Ireland are migrants, about 20% of the workforce (RTE news).

Reducing immigration won’t solve the housing crisis.

We need to build more homes, not blame those building them. #HousingForAll #RefugeesWelcome

Reducing immigration unlikely to help housing crisis
The bedrock of any Government's planning is demographics and the number of people living in a country and a reliable forecast for population growth are vital.

If our sector ceased to exist, we'd soon know about it. Our members shouldn't have to constantly make the case that they are worth funding. Our #Budget2026 submission calls for the work of members like @dorasirl.bsky.social  to be seen, valued, & properly funded. https://f.mtr.cool/jcfbtlcugk

A few weeks ago we welcomed Ella & Siona from Scoil Ide to learn about Doras for a school project. They spoke about classmates from different cultures, how despite differences, they all enjoy the same music, food & fun. Just kids being kids, united by what they share. A powerful reminder for us all.
