Still reading Livio & Szostak #book, “Is Earth Exceptional?” and I feel a little uncomfortable with the idea of “warm, little ponds” exposed to cycles of evaporation/dilution. I mean, stromatolites are 3.5 Ga old, while continents appeared much later. Where on land were those “ponds” located?

I suffered this very phenomenon on my own skin due in the 2013-2017 period. Four years, hundreds of applications, hundreds and hundreds of hours trying to make my CV better only to be entirely ignored 95% of the times. It’s disheartening and humiliating. youtu.be/CmaGMNYWTcY?...

Finally got my hands on this book. I am curious, as I was when I first spotted it. Might be another interesting take on a greatly interesting and mysterious question: where do we come from? #books #science

Fighting ignorance and Fascists in the comments to the video has never been so boring as is now. How on Earth is possible to be this ignorant in 2025? Umberto Eco hit the mark when he stated "Social media have given the right of speech to legions of imbeciles". www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ApC...

Signs of ancient life may have been found in Martian rock – new study. "When we can’t think of a non-biological explanation for something, it’s usually not because there isn’t one. It’s just that we haven’t thought of it yet." I personally remain skeptical... theconversation.com/signs-of-anc...

My first impression was not so enthusiastic. I had other expectations. I was wrong. The more I read this novel, the more I love it for all the messages it conveys, and for the still important discourse about science and religions, among other important things. #book

Feeling the incalculable loss of Mark Norell (1957-2025): wonderful scientist and cherished friend. His influence will continue through his many mentees and the science he did and inspired.

Just found this title while browsing through books of the science section in a bookstore near home. The content - biochemistry for at least half of the book - makes me drool like a dog. Might find some valid counterbalance to Nick Lane’s narrative about the origin of life on Earth. 📚🧪 #book
