Genomics hivemind: I want to genotype a bunch of diverse, heterozygous diploids with a messy genome (🌽 -- who'd have guessed?) but I care about phase. Computational phasing doesn't really cut it, so wondering what the cheapest alternatives are -- nanopore to 10-20X? Linked shortreads?

Such a mega hit of advisor joy, had to share. Frankie (right) has worked on lots of different aspects of tamarisk beetle genetics since our 2021 GEP @genomicsed.bsky.social course. Here she is teaching Jake, my first summer research intern, how to isolate RNA for his genome annotation project.
