Research Project Manager at the One Health Microbiome Center @ Penn State. Former Harvard postdoc. Professionally interested in microbial ecology, scicomm, artsci, and microbiomes. Personally interested in books, baking, painting, cats, and fungi.
Really disappointed to see that this year's NSF GRFP solicitation excludes second-year grad students (this late in the application cycle too!)

I'm a previous recipient and applied in my second year because I did rotations during my first year. This unfairly penalizes rotation students.

My latest byline over at Penn State News. In a time of research funding cuts and the uncertain future of science, it's really meaningful to work with these outstanding students and do all we can to prepare them for careers outside of academia.

Tomorrow is #InternationalWomensDay. As we celebrate, we also acknowledge that there are still areas of gender inequality, including healthcare. The first step in addressing this is talking about it.

If we can’t talk openly about women’s health, we can’t advance women’s health.
