one too many steaks, extra rare,
given everything, so unfair,
among his friends stands quite the man,
he'll take all that you can stand, and
in just fifty years you'll be square

Fuck Elon Musk
Musk and others on the far right are obsessed with things like Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons because they see fantasy worlds as reinforcing their own beliefs about immutable hierarchies of race, gender, and by extension morality www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Listen, I'm not saying I endorse brutal mockery of Avi Loeb's claims that every interstellar comet we see is an alien spaceship, but I will link to it because the aliens made me in order to sow doubt about their cometships.

Happy birthday Kurt Vonnegut. I know he would have had a thing or two to say about America now and the crazy rich people running it 😀🤬😢
In 2006 a high school English teacher asked students to write to a famous author & ask for advice.

KURT VONNEGUT - born 103yrs ago today - was the only one to respond.

His reply was a doozy.

Each Veterans Day, I always listen to Maurice Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin" which he wrote in memory of his friends who lost their lives serving in WWI.
Currently playing on WQXR in NYC, this recording by Leonard Slatkin and the National Orchestra of Lyon.
