I see a new challenge for #6GHz spectrum. But not in the US - in Germany and the EU.

It seems that some policymakers think it should be best used for 5G / 6G, rather than shared or dedicated to unlicensed use.

That’s a mistake

6GHz: Regulators vs. Policymakers?
New dynamics and tensions are arising between policymakers vs regulators on spectrum. This is especially obvious for the contentious Upper #6GHz (U6G) band, but is also occurring more widely in bands ...

I like the idea of wireless sensing, whether that’s in WiFi or 5G / 6G

But I suspect it will face a variety of practical and technical problems

In particular, new security challenges will undoubtedly arise:

If telcos want to be serious players in AI, they need to get serious about energy supply.

And that means having a nuclear strategy.

Most of the cloud & datacenter companies already do

Telecoms is years behind. That needs to change.

There’s a lot of rather self-serving arguments from network vendors that AI will “obviously” drive renewed increases in data traffic

I think many of the arguments are too one-sided

Looking at the future, I think that possibly the most pernicious - even evil - risk to humanity’s flourishing is the ideology of degrowth

It epitomises misanthropy and anti-technology and anti-capitalism nihilism

It would also make climate change much worse & harder to counter
