#BarbaraLee was my Congresswoman when I lived in Oakland between 2012 and 2015, and I voted for her in last year's Primary Election for the Senate seat now held by Adam Schiff, so this is definitely good news.
Barbara Lee wins the #Oakland mayor election! Today's update counted the remaining ballots, the only ones left are 300 ballots where the signature was missing or mismatched.

I guess the only comforting thought that comes to mind in these, the waning days of Babylon, is that where there is fierce repression there is also stalwart resistance. My only hope is that it continues to grow, because we're going to need every ounce of energy and fight we can get.

Deporting "undesirables" to foreign gulags is the first step to sending them to gulags here. It's time to admit that with Don the Con's remarks today, the idea of America is DEAD with a capital D.

I think I just might have to switch the NFC team I root for from the Seattle Seahawks to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Reportedly the Philadelphia Football Birds have declined their invitation to Mango Mussolinis DUMB House and instead have donated all their salary to national parks in thankfulness

Good morning. The dance, whatever that means to you, is worth fighting for.

“During the darkest days of the AIDS crisis, we buried our friends in the morning, protested in the afternoon and danced all night. The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for.

In the words of Boots Riley, "never let they punk ass ever defeat you."
Despair is a dead end.
It's the death of possibility.
It is the quiet complicity.

I know it's hard, but you owe it to yourself, at the very least, not to give the bastards such satisfaction.

You're alive. That's hope on tap. Use it. You're not alone.

It's time to overthrow learned helplessness.

Take agency over your life and fight for the future.

As my mother would often tell me when I aired my grievances about various goings-on in my life, "you have the power to change that."
what’s done is never final.

we have the agency and the power to make change happen, we need the courage.

I get the feeling that the Venn Diagram of folks who keep telling us that things are hopeless and that we may as well give up and those who just don't want to engage in the hard work of organizing is a circle.

My act of resistance today is reminding myself that I really do believe a better, just, and peaceful world is possible.

And that we can make it that way.

there is a permeating, all-consuming miasma of “we are all fucked and everything sucks; give up” that is far too common in predominantly leftist circles and it’s sad

the second you Submit to your circumstances, they win

"You are the government. You are jurisprudence. You are the volition. You are jurisdiction. And I make a difference, too."
It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Gov. Mills: I’ll comply with the state and federal laws

Trump: We are the federal law. You better do it because you’re not going to get any federal funds.

If you only see revolution as big, loud, violent acts and not the everyday work of community care, coalition building, & protecting our most vulnerable communities, then you don’t really want revolution.

You want a part in an action movie.

I've got one thing to note about yesterday's #NoKings protests: if anything about them was not up to your standards, my one word of advice is: put up or shut up. You can either help develop these newly-politicized folks into a direction you would like to see, or you can keep it to yourself.

But it did. It is. It's happening now. If you don't get off your ass and do something, anything, then it will happen in your lifetime and your kids' lifetimes and your grandkids' lifetimes.

Hey. Just so you know, you're not obliged to forgive someone, ever. Even if they seem to feel sorry. Even a relative.

The offending party doesn't get to decide the timeline after an apology. Forgiveness is -your- choice. Carry grudges to the grave if you want.

Nobody is owed a pardon.

I feel like Catch 22 is one of the most obviously leftist books just bc the protagonist is a smart guy who understands the insanity around him in perfect clarity, but nobody takes him seriously because it's also turned him into a miserable, high-strung neurotic

And what's more leftist than that

There is a right side, and a wrong side. And if you are not on one, then you must be on the other.
"I don't have a side in this" someone says when one side is neonazis.

I'm sorry, you chose a side.
