If you have some free time during #AASL25 the City Museum is only a fifteen minute walk away and is an amazing, bizarre, fantastic playground art project for both kids and adults.

Hey #AASL25 - the Metrolink only costs a few bucks and goes straight from the airport to the Convention Center. Not a bad way to travel.

Hey #AASL25 - heads up if you're like me and over-plan and purchased your tickets months ago. The Gateway Arch tram is a part of the National Parks Service and is closed during the government shutdown :(

I was busy making a flurry of things for the IdeaLab at #AASL25 while also making myself checklists and things to keep me put together.

But checklists are kinda boring after a while...so...Thinking about all the things I wanna do at the conference, I made myself a Bingo Board!

I'm taking a conference break this summer so I won't be at ALA or ISTE this year. But I'll definitely be following along from afar and cheering on my fellow librarians.

The break is also because I'm traveling to keynote at a conference in early August - more on that soon ;)

It's disturbing to see this being lost in the news cycle today. Carla Hayden has been a fantastic Librarian of Congress and there was absolutely no reason to dismiss her like this.

Love this display idea! I've made a board of books I've read during the year, but I haven't highlighted audiobooks before. I might be stealing this one.
Yesterday was the end of School Library Month and we were able to find 288 of the 300 mini books that my principal & AP hid in the media center as part of our celebration. Not too bad! #TLSky #schoollibrary

Here are 3 simple swaps you can make starting now:
1. Plastic water bottle ➝ Reusable bottle
2. Plastic bag ➝ Cloth tote
3. Ziploc or takeout container ➝ Reusable container

They’re easy. They last. Let Earth Day be your reset.

Thinking about everyday actions on this Earth Day & making small changes throughout the year that can add up. This year I've been swapping one regularly used plastic item for a non-plastic alternative each month. Spacing it out has made it easier and less expensive to shift things. (1/2)

One more note...

Often "national days" are celebrated in schools see custodians, admin asst., school counselors, etc.

BUT there are a few positions where it is often one person & it is overlooked.

School Librarians fall in that group.

Please do not miss this opportunity to give appreciation.

Happy Trans Day of Visibility 2025!
Children's Just Like Queen Esther by Ari Moffic and Kerry Olitzky (text) and Rena Yehuda Newman (illustration) Atara loves to wear her crown - to the library, to the dentist, even to her swim lessons. It gives her confidence, and shows the world that she is a girl, not a boy, like everyone thought at first. But when Atara reads the story of Queen Esther, on the Jewish holiday of Purim - she realises that you don't need a costume to express who you really are...
