this sort of learned helplessness is going to be extremely dangerous as it permeates adulthood - why bother to learn to drive if the car does it for you, why bother to learn medication interactions, why bother why bother why bother

Trying to grasp moments of joy in this bleakest of historical moments. It really is a curse to live in interesting times. Oh it would be a joyous thing if the world were to embrace peace and human rights and to feed the hungry and eliminate poverty and homelessness. Those things aren't impossible

I think that tech developers aren't talking to humans when they want to make updates. Most of the "updates" seem really terrible most of the time and mostly seem to be more and more AI trash. It's like they want people to leave technology and the internet.

In 2008 I met a climate scientist from Mali who was advocating for this so long that he looked exhausted. Absolutely amazing man. He was working so hard on this. And then I see numbers like this and my heart just soars. Youba Sokona, you (and your peers) really did it.
