May has been another busy month for the Devon Freewheelers Volunteers, we did 673 jobs in total, including 55 Air Ambulance jobs for our Air Ambulance Partners (Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance & Devon Air Ambulance). That's an average of around 21 jobs per day. All FREE to the NHS!

Spotlight on our Dorchester team, supporting the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance with replenishment of plasma stocks every 48 hours. Our dedicated team of 10 volunteers covered 252 life-saving deliveries in 2024, all without charging a penny for their services!

VOR! When our Saturday rider brought the bike back from a long 9 to 9 shift, he found a blown fork seal and we had to declare it Vehicle Off Road until it's fixed. Fortunately, with a fleet of 20 cars and bikes we had a replacement ready to go. That's why we can serve the NHS 247/365 #bloodbikes

With 100 or more samples to move during our normal evening and weekend shifts, we need a way to pick them up from closed GP surgeries. So we supply locking blood boxes and transfer everything into hard panniers on the bike in UN3373 spec padded bags. A professional service, at no charge to the #NHS

You know you can rely on us! Sickness and prior commitments left our North team short-handed so East volunteer Mick stepped up to cover our pickups. For the rest of the weekend, with a severe storm forecast, the bikes will be stood down for safety and all jobs will be allocated to our area cars.

We're busy again! This time it was the turn of our Dorchester based team supplying blood to the Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance. Our driver Kim was called out at midnight, two nights in a row, to replenish supplies that had been used up in trauma incidents attended by the DSAA.
