Here's an interesting small press that has some very cool books.
(Re)Intro: Queen of Swords Press is a queer woman-owned, wind-powered SFFH #smallpress, based in Minneapolis. Most of our posts are about our awesome books (LGBTQ MCs!) and (all human) authors, upcoming events, etc. Our publisher, award-winning author, Catherine Lundoff, posts here. #lgbtqbooks

Woman in her twenties and thirties: carefully bookends refusals or criticism with "I'm awfully sorry but" and "I hope that's OK!"
Woman in her forties: inserts softeners out of that habit, consciously starts removing them.

Just learned about @aat-transcribes.bsky.social: providing academic transcription services and a disability-friendly workplace. Really glad to know about this.

Ways to support:
- Hire them for your transcription needs!!
- Recommend them to your networks
- GoFundMe bridge funding
- Pass it on
Please support this fantastic transcription service which employs disabled people and does fantastic work. It would be terrible to see them close.
‼️Help save AAT

We post this with heavy hearts. Our future beyond March hangs in the balance, and we're crowdfunding for our survival. Please help us keep AAT alive www.gofundme.com/f/help-save-...

Can confirm! Love Loaners, esp. as the co-host of a (very much smaller) similar book program here in Seattle.
Just ordered 10 more copies of Loaners: The Making of a Street Library by Ben Hodgson & Laura Moulton for Book Moon — we've sold 34 copies so far.
I *love* it — and so does Karen Russell. Order your copy directly from Street Books or order it for a friend, it's a great gift:

Yep. Happened to me last week. And I put the "skeptic" in "skeptical."
I work in social engineering prevention. Thinking about scams and how scammers behave is my actual job. I've gotten got before. Literally anyone can get got.

And it's important to remember that scammers rely on your shame: they know you will delay or avoid getting help if you're embarrassed.
PSA: a friend — smart, savvy, worldly, just like you — got scammed out of a lot of money by a fraudster pretending to be an official helping her from being scammed. Be very wary of any calls/emails telling your accounts have been hacked.

I am horrified and heart-broken at what happened to Dr. Gay — and so so angry at all the "well-meaning" (white) people who think the "plagiarism" issue is actually an issue. Charles Blow's op-ed is an excellent summary.

I'm captivated by the idea that our history of extraction could catapult us into better ways of being.
There’s a Vast Source of Clean Energy Beneath Our Feet. And a Race to Tap It.
The United States has enough geothermal energy to power the entire country. Some are trying to unlock it by using techniques from the fracking boom.
