On a patch of land off the Old Kent Road once stood a Soviet tank that had lost its war but not its attitude. South Londoners called it Stompie, and for nearly three decades it was the most delightfully absurd monument to bureaucratic spite in the capital.

The Soviet Tank That Defied Southwark Council: The Strange, Glorious Life of “Stompie”

On way
Get yourself to the @theshirkersrest.bsky.social where Ben has barrel—aged Three Acre Bonfire Beer for 12 months. As you can tell by the photo I had a few and was enamoured by its calvados-like finish

What‘s not to love about #Brexit? It made me put on trousers, stroll to the post office and pay an extra 8.71€ for the latest @deserterblog.bsky.social book. I‘m looking forward to flick through it, anyway.

A night of Deserter Stories in East Dulwich on Pub Day.

Thanks to Miranda at the brilliant Chener Books and to Mark of the equally brilliant SEL Bookfest for inviting us. And thanks to the EDT for putting up with the afterparty 😬

Cask Wednesday already, you say?

This week we’ve fine ales on offer from Lakedown and Harvey’s plus our feature beer, the highly appropriate Bonfire Beer from Three Acre.

A powerful dark, old ale that’s been aged for twelve months and comes in at 6.66% 👀

All for the frankly insane price of £4.

@deserterblog.bsky.social ChatGPT for bum dosser!
The ChatGPT subreddit is absolutely hilarious. LLMs just output statistically likely responses, and a statistically likely response to being asked to do some work is "I'll have that done by...". So apparently in some cases ChatGPT had just been telling users it'll get back to them later.
