Beyond Thanksgiving myths, I recently wrote about how the Pilgrims used visuals of the Native people they killed in their conquest. Even now, their opportunistic consumption of the imagery of death gives us important warnings about how we interact with the grotesque terrors we witness.
Exploitative opportunities come with spreading graphic imagery of assaulted and dead oppressed peoples. I wrote about the Pilgrims and slavers using pre-camera visuals of killings. It connects to lynching photos and the sharing of images of genocide today. logicmag.io/issue-21-med...

How do you write about "safety" & "dangerousness" while acknowledging that there isn't an increase in "violent crime", & not name the years of racialized folks saying that more police does not make us feel safer, & prejudiced ideas of danger are not about it either? 🤦🏾♂️

Incredibly sad to hear that Joel DeMott passed away last week. DeMott's films 'Seventeen' and 'Demon Lover Diary' are absolute classics. I wrote more on her work at the link below but seek out the films. They deserve so much more attention!

Incredibly sad to hear that Joel DeMott passed away last week. DeMott's films 'Seventeen' and 'Demon Lover Diary' are absolute classics. I wrote more on her work at the link below but seek out the films. They deserve so much more attention!

Sounds like ICE killed a guy and then held american citizens hostage at gunpoint until they agreed to destroy the evidence
Our staff is on the ground supporting families. Many workers-including US citizens, were held by federal authorities at the farm for 8 hours or more. US citizen workers report only being released after they were forced to delete photos and videos of the raid from their phones. 4/
