Years ago when I stumbled upon @theoatmeal.bsky.social I was hooked by the cheeky butt jokes and clear, deep insight. My day still gets better when I read how he expresses exactly how I feel with unparalleled eloquence and humour. Hang this in a gallery for real!

Good.

We can’t even use movie clips in essays about those movies without getting copyright hits, so why the hell should AI companies get a free pass.

You wanna train off our works, pay royalties then.

About time we got new sheriff in this town. Preferably one that can find the town on a map.
Ukraine is Europe!
We stand by Ukraine.

We will step up our support to Ukraine so that they can continue to fight back the agressor.

Today, it became clear that the free world needs a new leader. It’s up to us, Europeans, to take this challenge.

UK gov wants blanket access to cloud data of all users (not only UK citizens). Removing encryption does not help to catch criminals. Unchecked access only exposes people to snooping, gov employee misuse of power and criminals rutinely breaching gov systems.

From all the played out 'reasons' for not caring about privacy the “I have nothing to hide, I do nothing illegal” line has aged particularly well recently. What is and isn’t legal can change pretty quickly and platforms holding your data won’t think twice about giving it up.

People overestimate level of adoption necessary for successful social network. Forums and BBs of yesteryear were comparatively tiny, but offered great value to users in terms of community and social interaction. And small communities self regulate more easily and are simpler to avoid if they don’t.

I would like for all of this to end in the repeal of the TikTok ban, but it's almost certainly going to end with Trump negotiating the sale of US TikTok as a gift to one of his cronies, which is why Elon and Zuck are elbowing each other so hard right now.
