I am genuinely baffled and distressed as to why the UK government is intent on destroying UK's genuinely world-leading universities, who bring £265 billion into the economy and support more than 250,000 jobs.

This tax will kill us.

This.
The absolute temerity of slamming ‘low quality research’ while squandering millions on garbage reports based on 20th century management ‘theory’. Such irony.
Ban consultancy spend by universities then. Seriously. It’s the same spreadsheets recycled and the same downward spiral diagnosis every time. And costs hundreds of millions across the sector.
Ministers ‘want to shift funds away from low-quality research’ .

Universities UK president says institutions cannot afford “unfunded hobbyist research”.

Close to TWO THOUSAND academics and educators say TRANS RIGHTS NOW.

(Sorry if you've seen this (and the historians' letter!) too many times. The lack of an algorithm means we have to keep reposting it to catch people, and this really matters.)
Heartened to see that close to 900 fellow academics and educators have already signed our letter in support of trans rights, trans wellbeing & trans inclusion, and against essentialist, anti-scientific, racialised & regressive views of womanhood. Please do read, share & sign! tinyurl.com/mud7va29

The Supreme Court ignored trans voices. I’m ashamed of what our law has become | Good Law Project
The Supreme Court’s decision to exclude trans voices has harmed trans people – and harmed the fairness of their ruling.
