One of my biggest old man moments these days is getting to remind people that the ACA *was the Republican plan*, modeled after Mitt Romney's healthcare program in Massachusetts, which itself was based on a plan developed at the Heritage Foundation as an alternative to the Clinton Plan.

Do people who need Medicade even have FSAs?
US median household income is ~$78k and the median savings rate is about 4%. So if you put *all* your savings into you HSA (no retirement, etc) that’s ~$3k per year. That likely covers a year with no illness, but you’ll exhaust that *very* quickly if you get sick.
