I would like to introduce our lab at the University of Miami, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center to our new followers. We are interested in studying tumor-microenvironment interactions in brain tumors. Some ongoing projects that are led by an amazing group of talented researchers include👇

few outcomes, except for 99% of FDA-approved drugs, 174 recipients of 104 Nobel Prizes, training ~30K MDs and ~10K PhDs per year to enter the workforce, and a 34% reduction in age-adjusted cancer deaths since 1990 -- the largest decrease in history
Now do the Department of Defense budget, Andrew.

“Washington has thrown billions at NIH for decades with little accountability and few measurable outcomes,” HHS spokesperson Andrew Nixon said in a statement to Future Pulse.

73% of mothers with kids under 18 are in the workforce. More than flowers or brunch, working moms need:

-Paid family leave
-Equal pay
-Universal childcare

(But get your mom flowers, too)

The information I am receiving is consistent with the STAT story.

The boards are being purged of women and minoritized scientists with no other obvious pattern. And for the cases where I have some information, the effects are not subtle...Boards going from 35% women to 10% women.

Today, a broad coalition of scientific professional societies who represent over 92,000 scientists are speaking out against the politicization and demonization of Federally funded science and government scientist jobs.

It was an honor to help the Union of Concerned Scientists with this! 🧪🌎

Today, the study section I am a member of is one of 26 out of 26 canceled. No new post on the federal registry and councils are postponed indefinitely.
Universities focused on overhead cuts considering these a challenge to their survival. But *no grant at all* seems like the issue to battle first..
The NIH continues to be fully halted. 11/11 study sections canceled today, which includes the study section my grant was meant to be reviewed at. This is never ending and so damaging.

Almost all grant-review meetings under Trump 2.0 remain suspended at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), preventing the world’s largest public funder of biomedical research from spending much of its US$47 billion annual budget.

NEW: The Trump administration is exploiting a loophole to keep funding frozen at the NIH - a move that some legal scholars say is illegal.

Federal Register notices are blocked, so no grant-review sessions can be scheduled.

I do not understand how sex can be binary and immutable and fundamental and you're stuck with the one you were born with, but also not a variable worth studying. I... just... one hand argues men and women are fundamentally different and the other says but we don't care?
