Aston Villa since 1972.
Absolutely terrific game of rugby that. If Scotland had believed in themselves from minute 1 who knows. Another glorious failure sadly #ScovNZL

Important to keep perspective here. 6 points out of Spurs and Liverpool away and City at home is more than acceptable. We’ve played very well at times tonight and a bit dozily at others. Overall though, since rtf window shut, we’re back to our normal selves and in a good position in the table #avfc

25-7 and happy enough. Very clunky at times and I reckon we were about 40% of what we could be, so on that basis it’s exciting to think what we could produce. Would like Fin back at 10 next week and not sure Freeman at 13 worked today. Also believe we need a bigger guy somewhere in the back row too
Come on then lads 💪🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Love this time of year when the Autumn internationals start. Fortunately I’ve bagged a ticket for today so off to Twickenham in about an hour. Looking forward to a decent game, obviously fancy England but it will be tight I feel. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇦🇺🏉

Get in Morgan. Stunning finish #avfc

Poor call to Onana, poor ball to Konsa. Konsa not winning the ball he should have done = corner = goal #avfc

I’m sure Spurs v Villa is at 2pm but I seem to be watching discussions and analysis of a game that’s not starting until 4.30pm

Back to the cricket it is then 🙄

It appears as though Yaxley-Lennon is planning an appearance at Villa Park for the Macaabi match. I was never going anyway, but I now believe the best course of action and it’s completely unfair to thousands, is for the game to be played behind closed doors or at a neutral venue in Europe 😢 #avfc

I’m not quite old enough to have seen Greavsie play at his peak, but in my view Harry Kane is the best England striker I’ve seen and by quite a distance. Don’t think he gets anywhere near the recognition he deserves ⚽️

And we carried it on. Best performance and result, by a mile, this season. #avfc
Really enjoyed that half, the intensity and quality is Champions League level in many ways. We’re beginning to look a bit more like our old selves, Pau makes a difference in that respect. Rogers picking up some nice positions and improving again. These are a good side though, I’d take a point #avfc

I’ve no idea how they’ve turned that penalty around? Must be something about VAR up at Newcastle, they get the decision they want 🤷‍♂️

Delighted with that, much more pace on the ball and intent too play. Huge turning point was Pau on for Mings which allowed us to progress the ball better than we had been doing. Hopefully Ollie and Rogers can kick on now after decent performances today. My man of the match though? Matty Cash #avfc

Go on Rory. “Shut the fuck up to a “Seppo” and then stiffs it to 3ft 💪🏻💪🏻 #TeamEurope

And when players are struggling, if they’re on the pitch wearing claret and blue our job as supporters is to “support” then and back them. This fella is quite possibly a generational talent and we’re turning him away from us in his first spell struggling. I’ll never understand it #avfc
Morgan Rogers’ sharp ascent meant he was always going to face adversity at some stage. But he's a formidable talent. He will prove a better player for these toils, as Emery reiterated after, even if it may not feel that way right now. @theathleticfc.bsky.social #AVFC

Villa Park’s criticism of Morgan Rogers will have stung, but this slump could be the making of him
Rogers is integral to Villa, so his nosedive in form has been felt harshly - can he grow from overcoming this adversity?

Happy with the win, much more intent to attack and commit players forward, compared to the other matches.

Morgan Rogers, for his own sake needs to be probably taken out for a game or two. Tell you what though, for all those fans who jeered him tonight, never hid at all. I’ll take that #avfc

Not surprised by this, felt like since he got involved in saving his local club he was likely to move back home. Remember he facilitates Unai’s wishes, so if you’re criticising him, then you are at Emery too.

Whoever comes in, can’t be an Emery choice, need continuity as and when UE leaves #avfc
September 22, 2025 at 9:25 PM
He’ll soon realise that he’s not got the high tempo and runners that he’s used to at Liverpool
Unai Emery: "Some players need to adapt, for example Harvey Elliott was getting the ball and passing behind the defence without options. He needs to understand that he has the skills to play more passes and then do the [final] pass with options."

The body language of our players is very telling. Arms up in the air, no one taking responsibility. They don’t believe in what they’re doing #avfc

Genuinely, with the possible exception of West Ham, I can’t think of a team that’s playing as poorly as we are. Make no mistake, we are right in a relegation battle as things currently stand #avfc
September 21, 2025 at 1:33 PM
How come every pundit, ex player, expert, Villa fan can see that we play with a lack of intent and urgency and yet the boss man can’t? 20 mins in and same old same old, it’s nowhere near good enough #avfc
September 21, 2025 at 1:22 PM
Seeing a lot fans just thinking it will turn soon because we have, ya know, Unai.

I’m not seeing much to suggest that whatsoever. And we were better tonight, but still slow, turgid and dull. #avfc
September 16, 2025 at 9:44 PM
Looks like Morgan Rogers is the latest scapegoat for #avfc fans. I actually feel really sorry for both him and Watkins, they’re getting no ball in space to make an impact. We move it so slowly that we’re never finding anyone in gaps anywhere. To me, it all falls on the coach #UTV
September 14, 2025 at 11:04 AM
Seeing a lot of criticism of Rogers on social media, yes he’s not at his level yet. However on Tuesday he was sublime for England so maybe have a think why we can’t get that performance from him at Villa? Answer is simple to me, we’re way too slow and conservative. Only one man to blame #avfc
