I truly think this is an underappreciated point that much of the "rising far right" polisci literature has missed.

We have n->inf findings that bad stuff leads to far right voting. But why _doesn't_ bad stuff lead to far left (or center left) voting? One big answer: A failure of political supply.
🗳️ New study (w @jessicakuhlm.bsky.social) on AfD success in integration council elections in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany: AfD achieved significant results in councils elected exclusively by voters with migration backgrounds. It's not about economics—it's about political competition. (1/3)

the organizational strength/structure of center left parties is working against them if we think of far right's emergence as a sign of the organizational weakness of center right parties.

The thing is, if you were a teenage girl in the 90s or in your early 20s in the early 2000s, this reads like a yearbook. It was normal. We all just survived it.
The stuff Jeffrey Epstein’s friends felt comfortable saying and drawing in grotesque detail with their names attached knowing they would not face consequences is the kind of thing I think of when I think about rape culture and how sexual violence against girls and young women is actually glorified

Let's be clear what this image represents.

Those skull masks were first popularized on the far right by a very specific Nazi terror movement that began on the pro-terror Ironmarch forums and entered mainstream news with the Atomwaffen Nazi terrorist murders.

THAT is the reference here.

Without the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in the U.S. Constitution, women’s equality still is not explicitly guaranteed under U.S. law.

Step one of saving democracy remains to put half of America's citizens explicitly into the Constitution.

Absurd and outrageous map would lead to a 7-1 GOP margin in a state that is often split about 60-40 GOP by creating an absurd district 5 that spans about two thirds of the way across the state, 200 miles from West to East

Oppose this.

Texas State Rep. Gene Wu is staying overnight along with Rep. Nicole Collier. Phew! I'm so relieved she wasn't left on her own.

They explain what they're doing and ask everybody watching to resist in their own way.

The quiet part here is that the reason we need governors to do what he is doing is because Congress has completely abdicated its responsibility to the American people as a coequal branch of government and SCOTUS is similarly serving political agendas. This isn’t a debate. This is a last stand.
@gavinnewsom.bsky.social: "Let's go. This is it. We need to wake up. We cannot survive if he rigs not just Texas, but he goes to Indiana, goes to Missouri, goes to Ohio, goes to Florida. We have to have other governors of like mind, and there are many, to now do something, not just say something."

The Trump administration is now seeking to replace PBS with “Prager University,” a far-right propaganda organization that isn’t actually a university.

One of their “kids videos” has Christopher Columbus telling them that slavery was “no big deal” and “better than being killed.”
