FDA inspectors said they also found a "black mold-like substance" near some of the equipment in the Sanford facility.

Tom's of Maine tells WGME it has "implemented additional safeguards" to make sure they're in compliance with FDA standards

A new warning letter from @fda.gov says some batches of Tom's of #Maine toothpaste were made with bacteria-contaminated water at the company's Sanford plant.

The FDA says a strain of bacteria that can cause blood/lung infections was found in water used to make "simply white" paste.
