best Pinnochio-inspired line I have heard about OpenAI offering: "Gepetto 5!"

Well, I had fun.

so I went through this whole rigamarole of having my resume in markdown and spitting it out to plain text with pandoc (still needed cleanup) and it was even worse for docx, and...
... deep breath...
I ended up having to tweak a lot in macOS Pages...

was one of the better #wwdc keynotes, ever
the version scheme, shared design language (liquid glass), and the flow of features across platforms are all wins.

for the month of July:
* please, no new AI releases of anything
* we all stop paying attention to "the latest"
* we use the month just to catch up and breathe

#yeahRight would be nice though :)

Was hoping that Beats Flex would be good headphones for walks

15 minutes with them, and I'm sending them back!

So so sound. Bad fit (tried 3 different eartips). Strange access to controls. Eh, the wired earbuds that came with my iPhone from 10 years ago sound better...

Ordered an off-brand.

I was not just imagining things...

splitting my resume into ATS-friendly vs People readable versions.

a bigger picture:
* we used to (and still do) write with SEO in mind
* now we write with AI in mind

In a way, I dont like that. I prefer to just write for humans.

True AI progress? When we dont have to think of AI parsing.

So I'd been a holdout on upgrading my Hackintosh for quite a while (Big Sur). I thought about Sonoma, but will punt and just go to Monterey (macOS 12). Tired of the endless tweaking it takes to get one going – been doing this since 2012.

An entry level mac mini would make me smile.

there are several good YouTube channels for keeping up with AI...

....and... many hucksters and "NFT all over again" personalities. I find that a good indicator to drop a channel is if they rely on using "Insane!" in their titles.

looking for more work (add 10-40 more hours)
* lots of AI awareness / usage
* react / vue / next / pinia / zustand
* node / laravel / redis / mysql / mongodb
* tons of APIs: google maps, places, etc

A restaurant called “Don’t fill up on that” where all we serve are the free bread courses from other restaurants. Cheddar Bay biscuits, chips and salsa, brown bread from Outback, breadsticks from the Olive Garden, and the servers are always all “now don’t fill up on this” and we all laugh and laugh

shoehorning an AI to run locally on minimal hardware by quantizing the hell out of it is like.. compressing a JPEG @ 99%.. I mean sure, it can be done, but it seems more like bragging rights than useful. 🤖

#copilot vs #roocode vs #cline

what's your fave choice on #vscode ?

Looking for good developer (js / python / ai / design) discords and slacks based in SF Bay Area. I've been away 7 years (way too long), and want to get back in touch.

also, pining to move back, and am trying to figure that out. Even short-term ideas welcome.

there's a bunch of tech youtubers that edit out every pause. A 10 minute video feels exhausting. It's an intense talking wall with no letup. Topics that'd otherwise be a joy become unbearable to watch.

slow, down. be, human.

(I dont wanna single anyone out, but we can all think of examples)

one more...
am glad that we are past the bulk of Web3 hype. NFTs for utility might be interesting, and perhaps blockchain.. but most of it? Eh, pass.
AI technologies are much more relatable, applicable, and useful then Web3. Might take longer to get past the worst of the hype.
May 4, 2025 at 6:58 PM
sure is a wave of videos that overhype what AI can do...
.. dont get me wrong, AI can do a lot!

but statements like: "can literally do anything, which is ready to ship and fully functional" make me tune out right away. It's a credibility thing.

It reminds me of Web3 overhype.

I want a tech doc w/diagrams

I like the Deep Research option on Gemini and others (ChatGPT), but, is there any one offering that can do Both:

* give me artifacts: share w/link
* embed images! At least flow diagrams. Giving me clunky ASCII diagrams, or bits of unrendered Mermaid, eh... really?

I was a skater back in the 1900's and have observed vert for.. well, several decades. If I say this is one of the most impressive video parts ever, well.. :)

Coding with an AI is like pair programming with someone who has had 3 cups of coffee ☕☕☕

but at any moment, it might seem like they have had 5 shots of Whiskey 🥃🥃🥃🥃🥃
