Give it time. They'll be back to dismantle the ruling through some unrelated bullshit case.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

I just want to remind everyone thay plenty of people warned that the Dems wouldn't leaen anything if they lost to Trump, and they would just become more feckless.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Sanders: Let’s be clear… If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are going to see at least a doubling in their premiums… if resolution is passed tonight, we are on a path way to throw 15 million Americans off of medicaid and the affordable care act, 15 million.

Sigh. I'm so sad this happened. I wish Perreira a full recovery and a return to doing what he loves. Injuries like that can be life-changing. The whole mood just f***ing cratered in this game. #NYCFC

This needs buy-in to the Democratic process. The arrest of political opponents, seizure of votes, & criminal prosecution of organizations opposed to their rule are 66% implemented. It doesn't mean it will work, but voting alone won't change their trajectory. Oligarchs also need to change course.
really important element of this basically total victory is that it puts the fear of god in republican incumbents and may bring the redistricting push to a total halt
