Hey #KubeCon, be extra kind to the staff today. One of them I chatted with yesterday whispered to me that people were giving them a hard time today

Sometimes I get the feeling “fun” is a sanitized word technologists use when they mean “addictive.”

Dev-Prod Parity has been a thing since 12factors, but I wonder if that can only be accomplished if limited to mechanism. Policies really need to change between dev and prod, no?

So far Atlanta’s #KubeCon makes Detroit’s seem Bahamian by comparison.

Be careful who you emulate. The desire to change the world can lead either to service or hubris.

This won’t be news to anyone I have spoken to over the past few weeks, but my family and I have relocated from Greater Orlando to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It is a good career move for me, but what sealed the deal was my family’s excitement about moving to the area.

I’m as excited about macOS Containers as anyone, but I also think the fine folks at lima-vm.io deserve credit for already putting together a great solution for Docker on macOS

TIL that *proximal* cause is a term of art in philosophy, while *proximate* causation is a legal concept.

I haven't seen a lot of people mentioning this, but if you are going to #Kubecon and you have a US passport (among many others) you need to get the Electronic Travel Authorization before you go to the UK. It can take up to 3 business days, though mine took 15 minutes.

"Imagine a government telling a car company to secretly weaken the effectiveness of the brakes on all the cars it sells, recklessly endangering the safety of millions. It would be an unthinkable undermining of public safety." #Technology
The war on encryption is dangerous
Government demands to access encrypted data via back doors will leave it vulnerable to hacks, breaches and theft

It is noteworthy how often I will have a vague thought that I do not fully understand it until I have written it out. It is embarrassing how poorly I have recognized and understood this dynamic.
