I do audio work for games but I previously worked in LQA for a couple of years! It was a great experience which taught me a lot about development cycles.

Unfortunately, most of my work was uncredited so I can't openly talk about it, but here's a couple of games that I worked on!

DAY 13 - VAPOR

If, lots of fine water particles create vapor...

Then, several short snippets of water sounds will create something vapor adjacent!

In conclusion, granular synthesis seemed like the way to go. I processed a bunch of water grains and this was the result!

DAY 12 - SHEPHERD

Repurposed the vocal recordings from my Day 6 - Monster post.

The same samples processed differently can set a different scene.

Without a guide, the zealots are just mindless vessels, just like sheep without a shepherd.

DAY 11 - TICKLE

I imagined an old recluse wizard, hiding away in his cavern. He uses his magic to tickle his fairy companion, a simple gesture that entertains them both. A small moment of levity for these two lost souls.

DAY 7 - CRYSTAL BALL

Unlucky for you, you have to rely on a coven of witches to get some insight into your uncertain future. Every full moon I light a candle in tribute to our lord and saviour, Grant Kirkhope.

DAY 6 - MONSTER

A group of hooded zealots are holding a dark ritual, sacrificing poor souls in order to awaken something from below - something that shouldn’t be awakened. Had a pretty fun time recording a bunch of Resident Evil 4 ganado phrases to bring the crowd to life.

DAY 5 - REMIX

I went back to a short music box piece I wrote 7 years ago. This being a solo instrument piece, it was perfect to collect samples from. I cut and pitched down a short bit which became a hook and another bit which I used as a one shot melodic stab.

DAY 3 - RAINFOREST

First ambience of the challenge! Probably not the last looking at some of the other prompts. Started off with a couple of rainforest ambient beds and then added a close and a distant river stream. After that chopped up and edited some bird calls and monkey sounds!

DAY 1 - RHYTHMIC

I thought of a typewriter. I recently visited a textile factory and the cacophony that the machines brought to life was something else. Keeping this in mind, I imagined what it would sound like to be surrounded by a bunch of magical typewriters working non-stop.

The idea is to make and share an audio creation based on a daily prompt. No rules, no minimum requirements, no limitations - just getting creative and trying things out! Even if it's an unfinished idea, it counts!

DAY 31 - MELTED TIME

This one was also made by only using vocal recordings and processing them to give them character and turn them into fire sounds. A fun reminder that if the style allows it, you can almost use any source recording for any sound.

DAY 30 - VROOM!

Only used vocal recordings as sources expect for the pad that plays from the beginning and a kick drum. Resonators and distortion created the metal chord! Made the transient a bit punchier by adding the kick drum!

DAY 29 - NUMBER MACHINE: MATH FACTORY

I had no access to my libraries for this one so I was forced to improvise by very quickly recording different textures with my voice for the tiles moving, and creating a soft ambience with Phase Plant to fill out the space.

DAY 28 - SNAKE GAME

100+ markers later…

I wanted to add a pad to fill out some empty space and that’s when I realized I was basically designing sound for a Resident Evil game.

Watch out for those Regenerators once you finish the puzzle! 😁

DAY 27 - TINY DELIVERY

Time for more Phase Plant today, this time in the form of the cutest delivery drone! I used one instance for the engine/wheel motion sounds and another with Random pitches to create the little vocal blurbs.

DAY 26 - JERRY KUREK

Pops, keyboard keys, a pad and Valhalla Shimmer to fill out the space. I sometimes find it tricky to get the right balance with these types of sounds, trying to make them pop while also taming the transients. Could probably pan some of the hits a bit for a wider image.

DAY 25 - THE CALL IT GRAVITY

Designing any moving vehicle with acceleration is always a fun challenge. Forcing myself to get more familiar with Phase Plant, I used its sampler for two different layers on this drone. Also added some one-shots and automation to highlight the boost.

DAY 23 - CTRL ALT DEAL

It was pretty fun playing around with different textures on this one. There's a mixture of low rumbly sounds for the floor surface, impacts for the modules being dropped and Sci-Fi tones for the UI and dialogue elements.
