If you heard the leader of another nation threatening to unleash the military against his perceived political enemies, what would you call it?

“In this paper, we argue that status threat arises because white Americans tend to perceive racial minorities as competing outgroups, not as fellow Americans… We find little indication that a shared American identity could reduce racial (and, in exploratory analyses, partisan) conflict in America.”
🚨 “We just need to recognize that we’re all citizens of this country.” –– Politicians + citizens often stress a shared national identity when trying to bridge racial, partisan, or other group divides.

@stysyropoulos.bsky.social & I show why such “shared” identities are doomed to fail.

What I see in these attacks – removing books, limiting speech and deporting op ed writers, attempting to sanction universities and law firms – is that books, speech, education and law are POWERFUL.

They are a threat to authoritarianism.

Keep writing. Keep speaking. Keep learning. Keep defending.
Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not.

An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.

Every single university president should be asked, in public, why they are not speaking out this way to support all the students currently detained without due process, and all those terrified that they will be next, on every campus in this country. Yes, including Columbia's acting president.

So is this the end of Elon’s Make-a-Wish time as POTUS? Will shareholders force him to do his day job again?

Seems like running a car company (and a rocket destruction company) should maybe be bigger than a side hustle.

Columbia University’s $14.7B endowment grew by 8.4% last year. That’s 1.24B new dollars of passive income, or 3x the $400M the fed just took back.

Use your damn resources and fight! That pile in the bank can’t protect your students if you leave it there.
I’m told this is a real letter. It basically says, “We’ll destroy Columbia unless you destroy it first.”

Important story by my friend and fellow Tillman Scholar @erinedwards22.bsky.social
NEW: The morning that Cmdr. Elizabeth Nakagawa was scheduled to have a D&C to remove fetal tissue after losing a very wanted pregnancy, she learned the surgery had been canceled because the military’s health insurance plan refused to pay for it.

A Coast Guard Commander Miscarried. She Nearly Died After Being Denied Care.
U.S. service members have long faced strict limits on abortions, even when used to resolve miscarriages. Under federal law, the military will only pay for abortions in cases of rape, incest or to save the mother’s life.
