New Sword Day! As a late birthday gift to me, my new Highland Arrow basket came in! Scottish Broadsword is one of my favorite disciplines, and this is a gorgeous one.

Went to see Captain America: Brave New World today, and we both really enjoyed it. More heartfelt than some other recent Marvel outings, and still very fun. I wouldn't call any Marvel movie a masterpiece of cinema, but this definitely stands up to the remainder of the Cap franchise.

My friend and training buddy Jared gave me this last night, and I'm ecstatic! Adolin is one of my favorite character arcs in Stormlight, and probably my current favorite character in fiction!

Hell of a day today at my first smallsword tournament! Managed to pull a bronze finish, which was a VERY pleasant surprise, and met some stellar fighters!

Also, really shows to go ya that everything really IS just worse rapier...

We're all aware of how misguided the EO to ask is to identify as the gender we had at conception is (because biologically at that stage we are all female). But it's official so... I feel like I really should start submitting paperwork to be in malicious compliance...

Definitely imperfect, but this is an ULTRA budget practice set with a hardware/craft store parts bag and windcap, a printed chanter, and set up with a cheap import reed and bellows. Made from less than $150 in parts (we won't talk about the time investment), honestly not a bad way to get started!

Listen. Rome isn't my specialty interest, so I may have missed something. But to my knowledge, the "Roman salute" is only called that because of a depiction in a painting made about a millennium AFTER the fall of Rome. So he's either a fascist or an idiot (or both, could be both), but he ain't Roman
