Visiting SF from Seattle. At breakfast.
As soon as I ordered, old friend and their partner walk in.
Of all the French cafes in all the cities in all the world, they walk in to mine.
I am delighted.

Grief is a funny thing.
Doing in person banking today. One of the security questions was "Mother's full maiden name?"
And my first thought was "Shes dead."
But that is not the answer, and so I did answer.
A reminder that this is a pain I carry all the time.

So, there's that feeling? You know the one? Where you're tired, bloaty, icky, but you go to the farmers market anyway because you know you need Food for the week, and there's someone selling Vietnamese Noodle Salad, so you get one for lunch and you eat it and Suddenly, Everything is Okay again?

Look, I know there is both chronic and immediate shitstorms happening right now.
But my cat woke me up by announcing her hairball, I got a nosebleed for no known reason (only the second time in my life), and my toilet is backed up. So you will have to forgive me taking a couple hours off.

If i am very careful, I may run out of Murderbot books just in time for the next Rivers of London novel.
Now, if the US Publishers would get themselves sorted out and publish @nickharkaway.com Sleeper Beach in the US, that would be just about perfect.

This is the statue of Terry Pratchett’s Librarian in front of a library in Oulu, Finland, made in 1987 by Raimo Metsänheimo. Discworld novels are available in Finnish. The statue is in front of the library in the district called Kaijonharju.

Is there a Geologist in the house?
If I say there's a natural cave with easily mined copper ore, am i violating laws of how stuff actually works?
