Hey, I know those cyclists!
Y'all should know better than this @nashvilledot.bsky.social

The Vonlane bus was the right choice for this solo trip to and from Atlanta. Flying or renting a car would've been around the same cost, but more stressful and less convenient. (Still, we need a train.)

My chym question: I’ve been in meetings about the chestnut street bike lane since the end of 2021 at least. We made developers give like $1.5m to fund it. Will it get done before my child has aged out of her daycare?

1 Mile Pkwy (Madison, TN) is approximately 1/4 mile long. What's the origin of the name, then?

Sure beats La Sombrita, and it doesn't have the greenhouse effect that the glass-sided shelters have. It fits well on narrow sidewalks, too. Looking forward to more of these in Nashville.

Under-promise, over-deliver. The Brompton is back home after only 6 days at the shop, working as well as she did when she was new!
Had the same idea, except it was taking the folding bike in on the cargo bike. (Was surprised it's a two-week turnaround for a tune-up)

Tactical urbanism works: "[NDOT is] also reviewing how to enable some of these tactical urbanism benches that are being placed at various stops to become more permanent." (From a CHYM committee member)

The Skinny Dennis folks understand how parking works in a city.

How I felt yesterday trying to get answers from NDOT about the severely-delayed bikeway on Woodland St. (They are still "about to" start the environmental review, the same thing they told me at last year's Open Streets.) Couldn't get a clear answer on putting in a quick-build bikeway there, either.
NDOT: the district CM has to provide approval before we recommend paid parking in their district.

Also NDOT, ~3 mins later: the district CM does not have to provide approval before we recommend paid parking in their district.

This Nashville pastor has been memorializing cyclists with ghost bikes. The latest is on Bell Road.
A Cyclist Died Here: Bell Road
Who counts as a cyclist? How stereotypes hamstring our movement towards robust multimodal infrastructure. Remembering Larissa Houston with a ghost bike on Bell Road.

It is finally open! Small space and it was crowded this afternoon, so I walked on.
This is exciting! The Horn (Somali coffee, chai, and sambusas) is opening an outpost on Scarritt Place!

I’m in this tweet, because I want to live in a city my little girls can afford to live in 20 years from now, a city that protects the environment, a city that doesn’t require a car to navigate, a city that welcomes all AND has homes for anyone who wants to live here.
The phrase "Bluesky urbanists" has been uttered many times in our newsroom lately

Lest my post from yesterday made you think Chattanooga would never close a major cycling and pedestrian route without providing a safe detour (or literally any detour at all), may I present to you the Riverwalk south of downtown.

A quick-build protected bike lane on a bridge? Chattanooga knows how to do it. It even looks nice, thanks to artist Ebony Bolt.

Checked out a display of Americana music mementos curated by Dom Flemons in the lobby of the Westin Hotel in downtown Nashville this morning. Grateful I learned about it from the @jewlyhight.bsky.social story I heard on @wpln.bsky.social yesterday.

Some car-oriented changes are coming to Demonbreun Hill. An eastbound lane of pavement that's currently a loading zone or striped off will be converted to a car lane. Biggest downside I see is that it will make the mid-block crossing a little less safe (with 2 lanes to cross at a time instead of 1).

Just going for a ride with 32,000 of my closest friends -- and about 90 of us in the Brompton group.
