Sunday morning lazing catching up on reading and planning out a talk I'm giving and wondering how many references to #Disney and #EPCOT can I fit in or add as imagery and seeing if I can hide them as a hidden mickey referene or would they be lost....

One day I’ll meet and show the real life and in real time use of the #disney world experience mobile app and my level of frustration! It’s never guaranteed to work and just when you need it to. It crashes or refuses to check you in for dinner !!

Loving the holiday in Disney as always :) this time I created some new SWAG to pixie dust cast members to say Thank you! www.linkedin.com/posts/laurac... #Disney="/hashtag/DisneyWorld" class="hover:underline text-blue-600 dark:text-sky-400 no-card-link">#DisneyWorld #Disney #Gratitude

Taking a moment from my Disney vacation to share a practice that's become meaningful to me both here and at work. Each year when I visit Disney, I bring along small tokens to "pixie dust" cast members – a Disney tradition of surprising people with small gifts or gestures to show appreciation for making your day special. While you can do this through the app, I prefer the personal touch of handing someone a little trinket I've created for the trip. Why? Because saying thank you to people who make your experience better matters. A lot. The same applies at work. We often forget to pause and acknowledge the people who help us out, collaborate across teams, or simply go above and beyond. Unless there's a formal tool in place (shout outs, high fives, praise platforms), gratitude can get lost in the busy day-to-day. So here's my reminder to myself...

Week 4 of 2 hairline fractures! Still not able to play tennis and didn't appreciate how much I'd miss it! Also my ability to type is deplorable!

I joined a tennis club 12 months ago barely able to hit a ball. Now I’m helping run Friday singles games! This journey taught me how often communities mess up onboarding. We focus so much on tech but forget the human touch. laura.community/2025/08/11/t... #CommunityBuilding #Onboarding
The Community Ladder: How to welcome, engage, and develop members – Laura's Adventure Playground: Mixing Community, Advocacy, and a Splash of Fun!
A year ago, I joined my local tennis club knowing virtually nothing about the sport. I came from the developer community world – comfortable with Slack channels and GitHub repositories – but completely out of my depth with rackets and courts. I could barely hit the ball over the net, let alone understand club etiquette or ladder systems. I was a nervous newcomer, starting with weekly coaching for the rusty racket and beginners group, then moving to private coaching from the most patient coach James ever! He deals with me swapping from my right handed playing to left handed at times, because why do things you’d expect eh! Each positive interaction made me want to stay, to get more involved, to contribute back to the community that had welcomed me.

Looking for recommendations for water irrigation systems to use in a raised flower bed in the back garden and front of the house. Sunken hose isn’t doing a good enough job at fully watering the flowers #amateurgardner #gardening
