I saw someone else say this, but it really is amazing that 40 years later this is still Nightcrawler's costume. Like he's had some tweaks over the years, but they always come back to this, or some variation of it. One of the best superhero designs of all time.
It's Dave Cockrum's birthday and all the comics people are posting about so I feel like I should say thank you, Dave Cockrum, for designing the absolute best X-Men character.

There's a very cool & genuine note from @dantrachtenberg.bsky.social in the new Predator Badlands prequel comic out this week. I wonder if @ethansacks.bsky.social got to see the movie early to be able to write this early mission of Dek. Predator Badlands is a theater grade movie so see it soon!

It feels like everything @ashcanpress.com has written led up to We're Taking Everyone Down With Us. Not a wasted or clunky line in the finale. If you missed the issues, get the graphic novel. Its Bond, Venture Bros, & a lot more. The ending will remind you what this always was in case you forgot.

Dave Cockrum was with no hyperbole whatsoever one of the best character designers to ever work in superhero comics. His sense of style holds up today with many designs like Phoenix, Nightcrawler and Storm being all-time classics.

Dave Cockrum was born today in 1943. His work at DC & Marvel in the 70s was SO exciting & helped reinvigorate 2 vital but moribund franchises,the Legion & the X-Men.
Oddly, the DC app only has the key wedding tale in Superboy & the LSH #200 in black’n’white. But the result is pure Cockrum artwork.

Correct me if I'm wrong (99% sure I'm not), but the Daniel Craig movies were their own complete detatched thing from any other James Bond films so there is nothing to bemoan about that version's death in regard to making new films.

Frankenstein was famously the result of a contest in the summer of 1816 between Byron, Percy Shelley, Mary Shelley and others to produce the best ghost story. Mary Shelley's was the only finished result (though Byron's unfinished vampire novel wound up as quite influential indirectly.)
Meanwhile, on twitter, did you know that Mary Shelley never could have written Frankenstein (which is about magnets as you know) because her boyfriend was really into magnets?
