It is shocking that Turkey’s attacks on the Kurds and the autonomous area of North East Syria are treated as kind of footnote to the Syria story. Be clear: a region of Syria is under major assault; the war is NOT over.

In the joy of Assad's fall, we must not forget that this is a dangerous time for the majority-Kurdish area of North East Syria. They are now under attack from Turkish-backed militias and Turkey may well take this opportunity to mount a broader assault, even invasion.

A lot of ignorance being displayed by the commentariat about North East #Syria (known by the Kurds as 'Rojava'). It is a self-governing, multi-ethnic (not just 'the Kurds'), woman-led democracy. It is extraordinary and must be protected.

They must keep everyone poor to keep them all in work.

And even when they no longer need people to work, they will need to keep them busy.

Otherwise people will notice that Musk, Gates and Zuckerberg are 10 million times richer than them.
