Very interesting…. For me, it comes down to mood and psychology: summer horror feels more communal, with group dynamics, and outdoor tension (Jaws, Weapons). Autumn horror would be the opposite: lonelier, quieter, and more about what happens when darkness falls. I definitely lean toward the latter.

I one time figured out an insane plot twist at the end of a chapter of a sequel to a story I’d written over a year earlier. Every time the characters said “I don’t know why they’re doing this,” I didn’t know either. Until all of a sudden I did, and I still have no idea how I did that.
