Had to go over to Unst today to pick up my car that’s been there all autumn. Took the opportunity to go to look at 2 Long eared Owls, managed to find a third bird there as well!
Best I could do in dull light, the other 2 were even more obscured.#Shetlandbirding

At Jurys Gap I was surprised to see 5 Curlew Sandpipers in the the field with the Golden Plovers, even more surprised when a Dotterel dropped in, sadly no sign of the American Golden Plover though only a small portion of the Golden Plover flock was present.

...think we can see at least 14 in this single snatched photo of part of the flock just as they went out of view so guessing there must have been 15-20 in total

Dungeness: There were 5 Wheatears by the sea watch hide early morning, all moved quickly inland, the sea watch was however very poor. 4 Grasshopper Warblers were trapped and ringed this morning by the DBO ringing team, thanks to them for the alerts and photo opportunity.

After a night of strong winds and rain I wasn't expecting much in the VC15 trap, so to find this Striped Hawk-moth in the trap was a great surprise this morning. It looks pristine so probably hasn't come far. @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

Quite shocked by this Common Buzzard yesterday at Falsterbo - dark chocolate bib & pale underparts almost like a Swainson’s Hawk. Anybody else seen this plumage variant?
