Lux by Rosalia is a goldmine, a magical symphony, a pop opera of extreme beauty and drama. I cannot recommend it enough!

The Mamdani campaign believed “well-produced media is a weapon in any fight.”
But the story of what it built and what it can continue is and must be deeper than that.

Why the Mamdani campaign must be the future of politics
This is something we do, or it is done to us.

you know, the word best can be used as a noun (do your best!) and as an adjective (the best spatula); which means, you can legit say "it was the best of bests, it was the worst of bests!"

is this the Republican's nazi coming out party? you don't have to connect any dots on this one. Carlson is finding common ground with an avowed nazi and Hitler-lover. some people are all in, some people are objecting, but i think it's being all laid out.

The idea that you should be able to override a block to whine at a person who blocked you because they also added you to a moderation list is basically demanding that Bluesky create a way for you to systemically violate someone's consent for you to interact with them.

"Why don't people support welfare programs?"
Racism. More specifically, anti-Blackness.
White folks asked about who welfare serves overestimate the number of Black people on welfare. Not only that, but just the mere THOUGHT of who welfare supports led less white people to support it. #blacksky

I think a lot about the chance we had at the start of COVID to finally become a more compassionate, collectivist nation, and how profoundly we were failed not only by the sociopathic greed of the ruling class but by each other.
It doesn’t mean we won’t get there, but the lost opportunity haunts me.

Remember how just a few years ago during the worst of the pandemic when we saw how the govt can actually do big things and saw that our collective health & well-being are intertwined, and then corporations got mad that they lost a modicum of power and helped fund a backlash of amnesia and fascism?

Any cyclists had luck with Google maps if you adjust the map a bit to avoid big roads and then save it for your phone?
It seems to default to what it thinks best and dumps my changes

Something has thoroughly rotted the pundit and aspiring pundit class in the US such that they find themselves inserting the word "but" after "Nazis are bad."
When a man walks around calling his Nazi tattoo "my Totenkopf" rather than getting it removed, he is unfit for public office.

I've been thinking of the quote that says we are afraid of being our most powerful self (Marianne Williamson, often falsely attributed to Nelson Mandela).
this guy is not afraid of his own power! it's liberating!

It's because white people can always see the humanity in each other and not in the POC Kirk targeted and actively harmed.
Yesterday Fresh Air did an interview with Robert Draper, who has covered Charlie Kirk. And this section on Draper's relationship with Kirk said a lot to me about modern access journalism, and the soft coverage we've seen in the wake of Kirk's death.

I love a good vinegar! in Maine, it's common to have a spray bottle of apple cider vinegar at french fry shops. it's amazing - and honestly, who doesn't prefer spraying a mist of vinegar instead of dripping it on things?! very manly spraying thing
A conspiracy theory I have is that people put hot sauces like Tabasco on everything not so much for the pepper as they do for the benefits of adding vinegar to a dish and that’s what they should be focusing on and recognizing. This conspiracy theory has not gotten traction due to “lack of interest”

the other three mayoral candidates are nonwhite. the council, especially the lefty side, is also nonwhite.
that's probably enough explanation.

…always ends up “just worried the other person will be too extreme” no matter what our conversation was like. No matter how many times you point out Frey’s warts. They don’t see them. And I really don’t know what to do about it.
Feel like I try to engage with real info and they just shrug it off.

White people, your reaction to finding out you've done some racist shit has to be:
1. I'm sorry, I didn't know. Here's how I plan to make amends.
2. I'm sorry. I know better now. Here's how I have made amends and changed.
The defenses of "so young, plausible deniability etc" is how we got here.
