I agree with Adam. You want just a whisper of dry vermouth. What I do is: while the gin is chilling on ice in the cocktail shaker, I pour a capful of vermouth into the glass and swirl it around to coat the inside of the glass, and then pour out the excess vermouth and pour in the cold gin. :-)
