This week was a pullback! Finished off week 13 with a solid BUT SUPER WINDY 16-miler. 😁✊🏻

NEXT SUNDAY IS MY LAST LONG RUN OF MY TRAINING BLOCK AHHH (22-mi!) Then finally my sweet sweet taper! 😭 I’m so TIRED lol

I know Texas gets dunked on a lot but I genuinely feel like people here are some of the hardest fighters despite everything against us, we deal with some of the worst gerrymandering and vote suppression because republicans know they’re fucked as soon as this state flips.

Worst photos ever because I took them through my home office window while at my desk…but! The yellow-rumped warblers (“butter butts” 😁) have returned to my neck of the woods! Their arrival marks fall time-for-real for me, even if we only have cooler weather in the mornings right now lol

Dung beetles know where they want to go. They roll, push or shove their dung ball & every few seconds they stop pushing to climb on top of the ball to make sure they are going in the right direction. This dung beetle male is just climbing down after a look around.

This male dung beetle is black and a deep iridescent metallic purple colour. He has just taken a look around from the top of his dung ball to make sure he’s going in the right direction, and is now climbing down to resume pushing! Dung beetles navigate by the sun and stars!

Saw this lovely group of Sandhill Cranes a couple of weeks ago. They were part of a much, much larger flock, grazing in a stubble field. I wonder how far they’ve travelled since then? #birds 🌿

Got my 21-miler done this morning! 😁✊🏻

With the temperature in the 40s-50s F in the mornings, my pace has seen an incredible improvement over my summer paces. Today was an incredible effort!

Week 12 complete! I have TWO more weeks with my 22-miler on Nov 16th! Then finally! My glorious taper! 🙌🏻

I spent the afternoon at the kitchen table shelling out/organizing seeds from the native wildflower spent heads and seed pods/legumes I harvested while on my runs in the spring and summer! I was able to get through 3 paper sacks. I still have a few more sacks to go, then I’ll sow them very soon! 🌿🌱

We got the kitties a 5.5-ft cat tower yesterday.

Today is flea treatment day aka Fitz has to wear a baby shirt or he tears himself up trying to lick off the medication.

The new cat tower. It is a typical carpet-covered tower. One of the legs to the tower is a rope-material covered scratching surface. The other legs are carpet covered. It has a lower bowl-like tier, then a cylinder-like hide with two exits on either end then a window hole in the middle, then a very high bowl-like tier. With SNAP/EBT cuts looming I highly recommend downloading this app! Basically restaurants and other food businesses will have available bags of random food they don’t wanna waste for ppl to buy for hella cheap! This has saved me sooooo many times when I only have $5 and need some food.

The kitchen sink has a window above it. A white foldout table is where a kitchen island should theoretically be. The kitchen is white with black accent and black and silver appliances. The backsplash is grey subway tile. A closer view of the kitchen sink. On the window seal I have several potted house plants including snake plants, pothos, purple heart, and philodendron.
