Three weeks today is Christmas Day and postie just delivered my first pressie (from myself) - the Swansea Sound “All Is Calm” LP! It comes complete with branded balloons, hat, Xmas card and some Welsh music related crackers jokes including one for Newports finest! Get yours at @skepwax.bsky.social!

30 years ago tonight The Stone Roses played Newport. It didn’t end well! The band were known in town from going to TJs while recording at Rockfield and John Squire even used the cherub off of Newport Bridge for the cover of “Love Spreads” but Ian mistakenly put on a Cardiff FC shirt & chaos ensued!

Enjoyable evening in Cardiff seeing Divorce tonight with superb support by young Scottish band Curiosity Shop (whose accordion player joined Divorce for their Xmas song!)

To celebrate 49 years to the day since the classic Pistols single was released, I booked tickets to see them play live in Cardiff next summer as I didn’t see them back then….

That was fun! the (mini) Mekons and Jon Langfords Men of Gwent playing on a ship motored on the Thames! Susie from The Mekons joined Men of Gwent for one number and they returned the favour by joking The Mekons for a few too! Good fun (even if everyone bumped their heads on low beams!).

One of the most unusual venues I have ever been to! Jon Langfords Men of Gwent are supporting the mini-Mekons here for two shows, one at 5pm and one at 7:30pm….. I may borrow the ship to get home and moor it on the Usk!

Music brings people together as well as entertaining them so it was so great to meet people who made the journey from Austria to Newport to see Jon Langford & The Men of Gwent playing a church in Newport this evening!

Totally bonkers but highly entertaining evening in @lepub.bsky.social with Mik Artistiks Ego Trip supported by local heroes, Fnools!

Top evening of entertainment in Swansea tonight with Catenary Wires (acoustic duo), Brian Bilston (solo poetry) and then Brian & The Catenary Wires (full electric band) playing tracks from their brilliant album “Sounds Made By Humans”. See them if you get the opportunity, it’s such a great show!

Odd charity shop finds #1043… a 7” single on a German label from 1976 by a band called “Newport” (who seem to actually be from Cardiff) found in a charity shop in Newport! Love that they have the Newport coat of arms featuring the cherub used by the Stone Roses on their sweatshirts!

Said a final goodbye to my friend Steve Nash this morning. There aren’t many funerals that include mentions of Postcard Records, Sarah Records and The Sea Urchins but they were all included in the Eulogy! RIP Steve
