Seriously, this is the shit that makes people stop voting for Dems. Or to stop voting completely.

That's exactly right. Librarians lead the way!
Library of Congress staff just showed what resistance looks like. After Trump abruptly fired Dr. Carla Hayden, the respected Librarian of Congress, he tried to install Todd Blanche, his former personal lawyer and current Deputy Attorney General, as acting librarian. Staff weren’t having it.

On May 2, 2025, the Trump Administration released its FY2026 federal budget proposal.

On page 39 he calls for the complete elimination of the only federal agency dedicated solely to supporting America’s libraries and museums.

STATEMENT: President Trump’s FY2026 Budget Proposal Will Eliminate the Institute of Museum and Library Services
These attacks are ideologically motivated and structurally dangerous to our educational, civic, cultural, and community institutions.

A little something from the Wisconsin Bookwatch I wanted to share:

"White Line Fever" by K. C. Jones is a simply riveting read from start to finish. An original masterpiece of white knuckle suspense by a novelist with a distinctive and narrative driven storytelling style...

If libraries have ever benefited you in any way, small or big, this is your time to speak up. Libraries quite literally exist to support community, to support *you*. Please don't let this administration strip away support for libraries. The impact will be devastating for us all. bit.ly/41QMGmL

if you are the kind of guy who thinks a lot of big thoughts about how you would TOTALLY punch a Nazi if you ever got the chance, I have great (meaning, terrible) news for you about how many public places you can go now where that’s a genuinely useful attitude to have
If you're a white dude with some flexibility in your life, get a group of your like-minded bros together & go to these events to act as counterbalance to these "private security forces." Get in their way. Occupy space. Ask for their IDs. Outnumber them. Make their fascism difficult.
UPDATE: The Coeur d’Alene Press spoke with the woman who was dragged out of a town hall for heckling legislators, confirmed which security firm worked the event and spoke with Kootenai County Sheriff Bob Norris and Coeur d’Alene Police Chief Lee White about the events.

It may not be cool or hip in some circles, but we legitimately do need a massive amount of people to run for office.

Flood the school boards, councils, county seats, state legislatures, Congress, etc.

Big changes at the top happen when the ground shifts at the bottom. And that can start now.

Since folks are interested in moving to Kobo.

A few thoughts incoming.

I do not miss Kindle.

The only thing I can't get in Kobo are KU books. So I gave those up. *shrug*

If I really wanted, I could read KU on my phone.

Overdrive is built in.

Finally some snow! The main downside to the West side of the mountains in the PNW, for us, is a lack of snow. So exciting when we get some!
