Alright, I got lost in my AI News/Information thread AGAIN, so I'm starting a new one.

Here's the previous one: bsky.app/profile/corb...
Omg, I got lost in my own thread. Well!

Fall semester has just started and I have to write another big old paper again! NOT as intense this time, not a 50 page capstone project, but it's probably going to be AI focused again. So.... Fresh thread, fall semester.

I didn’t have a name for it, but having a certain degree of visibility, it was clear to me years ago that people were responding to a thing that they had just straight up imagined that I had said. After a while you can’t even really be that angry about it, just sad.
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy

"Synthetic text and image extruders cause mass psychosis" was, I will admit, not on my 2020s bingo card.

Didn't see it coming, though it makes perfect sense.
My latest AI feature dives into a nebulous movement of people sharing esoteric codes, manifestos, glyphs, diagrams, and poetry generated with chatbots, all of it based around theories of AI sentience and mysterious metaphors about spirals.

We're overbuilding data centers at the same time that we're not building more electric capacity.

Leave aside there being no real products to come from AI, leave aside the lack of demand for all this data center capacity...who builds infrastructure like this with insufficient power capacity?

The national debt is at 38 trillion. But good news! We’ve taken in “trillions” in tariffs!

But instead of paying down debt, we’ll pay everyone $2,000 and then maybe pay down some debt with anything left over. But if that’s the case, couldn’t we afford to pay more than $2k?

The authors suggest adding a simple “explain-back” step where users restate the AI’s reasoning in their own words before accepting its answer. This could help ensure they understand the AI’s response.
