A modest proposal from the chair of the UK Obesity Healthcare Goals is to reduce disparities in obesity simply by offering smaller portions in restaurants and packaged foods. Trouble is that #ObesityPrevention is not so simple as he presumes.

At NIH last week, a symposium on sustainable #ObesityCare and the gaps in research to support it really laid out the most pressing questions for moving beyond present simplistic #WeightLoss thinking.

#PFAS unavoidable 😱

Everywhere we turn, we see evidence of how increasingly difficult it is becoming to avoid exposure to #PFAS – the endocrine disrupting chemicals that contribute to our #obesity risk.

Having just celebrated 43 years, we are ready to believe the link between emotionally supportive #marriages and a lower risk of #obesity is meaningful. This new study delves into the biological basis for it. Much more to be learned.

The subject of preserving #muscle is getting a lot of intention, sometimes leading people to lose sight of the real point: #HealthOutcomes. Resistance and other forms of exercise are important for health.

Some people seem to be interpreting the rallying cry of "Food Is Medicine" to give them permission for downing #OliveOilShots. Gwyneth Paltrow is one of them and that gives us confidence to say that this trend is BUNK. Ewww.

We agree when @marionnestle.bsky.social, @astokespop.bsky.social, and David Sarwer say don't neglect #ObesityPrevention. But we are suspecting that market dynamics are doing more to bend the curve than many health advocates. It's time to catch up with reality.

This is big. Where @who.int used to treat obesity as a behavioral risk factor, it now embraces the understanding of #obesity as a complex chronic disease, recommending treatment with GLP-1s and supportive care.

Progress a long time in the making.

A new paper in the Journal of Lipid Research adds fuel to the fire that burns for true believers in #SoybeanOil as a culprit in the rise of #obesity. But interesting studies of lipid metabolism in mice fall short of evidence for causality in humans.

New research by Sedat Arslan and colleagues reminds us that #UltraProcessed foods are associated with #FoodInsecurity as well as obesity. Policy makers would do well to take the complexity of this into account.

The Hazards of Certainty Manifest in Health Policy Today conscienhealth.org/2025/11/the-... by @conscienhealth.bsky.social

The harm that comes from RFK Jr's "campaign is already being felt. Children and vulnerable people will die."

"Outright falsehoods are dangerous and intolerable."

Yep.

A 500% rise in the use of #Wegovy (semaglutide) by new mothers is a signal of a real medical need in this setting. Medical and pharma researchers must to get serious about understanding risks and benefits in #postpartum women.

What little most consumers know about #PBMs is not good. Big hassles, high costs, and poor access to care. It's little wonder that many trends in the marketplace could make them irrelevant. Everyone seems to be shunning them.

A rupture of public trust came this week. Information on the @cdcgov.govmirrors.com website changed overnight, without input from scientists, to espouse the anti-vaccine agenda of Health Secretary RFK Jr.
