Embracing autumn by watching the Gilmore Girls with my cats (they were not impressed by season 7)

It's never too early to buy your cat a Christmas present

I've been slacking off on my writing recently, but I'm working on a short story right now that I'm really enjoying. The process that works best for me seems to be:
1) Come up with an incredibly stupid title
2) Write a story around it

Future Fish is ridiculous and hilarious fun tinged with a surprising amount of affection. We always root for the underdog loser, and main character Mark is exactly that.

I’m buying this conspiracy theory laden romp by @conorsneyd.bsky.social for a friend who takes themselves far too seriously

Me and my boyfriend adopted a cat today. I wish I could share a photo, but he's currently hiding out behind a pile of laundry ☹️

The book I'm currently writing features an extremely sassy Frenchman, and I've just realised he's basically Michel from the Gilmore Girls 😁

20 day #BookChallenge: Day 2

'Geek Love' by Katherine Dunn

I first read this back in 2005. For some reason, I was expecting a light, quirky comedy (Zooey Deschanel movies were all the rage at the time). Instead, I found something shocking and disgusting and absolutely brilliant 😁

To celebrate @defenestrationmag.bsky.social joining Bluesky, here's my short story they published back in April: 'We need to talk about Slug Simulator'

Kids these days aren't interested in hard work. All they wanna do is sit around pretending to be slugs!

I hope all the book bloggers/ reviewers out there know how much their work means to us indie authors. I was really struggling with motivation this evening, and then I came across a lovely review of Future Fish, and it fully lifted my spirits 🙂

I'm about halfway through 'The Light Fantastic' and enjoying it more than 'The Colour of Magic'. My favourite character so far is definitely the librarian - I remember him being featured in some of the later books, but I never knew his full origin story before 😁
A few months ago, I decided to read through all of Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels in the order they were published. I finished the first one, 'The Colour of Magic', and then got distracted by other things on my to-be-read list.

Today, I'm finally starting #2 - 'The Light Fantastic'!

I'm not usually a bookmark person (all my paperbacks end up horribly dog-eared 😅) but I couldn't say no to this little Totoro

My debut novel Future Fish - a comedy about a hapless gay misfit trying to hold down a job in corporate Ireland and avoid getting caught up in a cat food conspiracy theory - has just hit 50 ratings on Goodreads 🥳🥳🥳

A huge thank you to everybody who's read it!

Hello #authors / #writingcommunity (are hashtags even a thing on here?🤷)

I've just joined Bluesky and would love to make some friends so I don't look like a total loner.

I'm an Irish author of funny fiction featuring hapless gay protagonists. My debut novel Future Fish came out earlier this year.
