The deserts around Palm Springs (~1-2 hours east of the fires) while dry, are themselves at lower risk from wildfires than the LA basin, primarily due to low amounts of vegetation. Which is to say, Toby and I are safe, but in shock from the devastation unfolding here in SoCal.
