THIS is the way -- and about time. Too often, local police and state national guard troops have backed up ICE or even participated in roughing people up. Although this is effectively soft civil war between federal and local authorities, it is absolutely required to defend civil rights.
Police Chief Brian O’Hara has delivered a blunt message to his department: If an officer witnesses ICE agents using illegal force and fails to step in, they will be fired. 👏 👏 👏

Chief Brian O’Hara says he’ll fire city police officers if they don’t intervene when immigration agents use unlawful force.

For me, virtually all DNC & liberal PAC fundraising emails go straight to my junk folder. For exactly the reasons you cite.

Unchecked pardon power can be used corruptly and it's not the solution to the carceral state. It's barely a symbolic band-aid on it.

I'd argue for a strict limit on the # of pardons a president can use in any term, something in line with historic norms. There are probably other sensible limits.

IQ is a very incomplete metric. Like a fast CPU on a computer, by itself it only lets you do dumb things faster. You need good software to go along with it - in human terms, character traits like wisdom, integrity and courage. And the best part is that those things can be taught regardless of IQ.
I saw this ad on the train and I’m curious how yall feel about it… I’m very much in the center, but slightly more towards than against…

It is also coming out of Kash Patel's FBI, which has a high motivation to "solve" the case and no compunctions about framing a scapegoat, so ... we'll see if this holds up to scrutiny.

Sadly, we can't trust federal law enforcement anymore, as it's totally corrupt and its leadership is inept.

Hillary is channeling the Democratic Party's role in how we got to where we are today.
Poor dumb young people; indoctrinated by the evidence of their eyes and ears; living in a bubble of what is actually happening instead of here in the real world of billionaire donor events and funder dinners.
Hillary Clinton blames TikTok and “totally made up” videos for young people’s views on Israel and Palestine.

She says social media influenced “not just the usual suspects” but also “young Jewish Americans who don’t know the history and don’t understand.”

What in the fresh fuck is THIS?

A huge lawsuit against Traitor Trump related to his pedophilia. A sex trafficking operation identical to Epstein's.

Color me surprised. 🙄

The nature of power is that progressives only get table scraps until there's a larger sea change. Bernie spent decades doing what he could. Mamdani hasn't even taken office yet. The good news is that there's a real chance for that bigger change as people are more fed up & see through the GOP grift.
The problem with this is that they're both elected officials with real power that they refuse to use on behalf of workers, so they engage in performative solidarity instead of living up to their half of the inside-outside strategy.

‘just cause or a legitimate business reason’ is vague and broad enough to drive a truck through. That's probably why they thought they were doing what they were doing anyway.

There are signs but he misreads their significance, even if the implosion of the regime IS a fait accompli. We can't just return to normal as if nothing happened.

Next needs to come a reckoning, Nuremberg style, and soul searching that should not spare brunch liberals, either.

There seems to be more & more daylight between Trump and GOP legislators. Good.
Lindsey Graham sponsored the Afghan Adjustment Act: “This is the right thing to do. The people who were there with us in the fight who are here in America need to stay. This will be their new home. We have a moral obligation to these people and they will make great citizens.”
November 29, 2025 at 2:46 AM
I think that the notion that the "moral arc of the universe bends toward justice" is wrong. Injustice in all its forms is what we get when we allow it. Justice is what we get if we ceaselessly struggle for it. Predation is just one example of that. I think the illustration is accurate.
Discuss.
I don't recall where I found this, but I'd say this looks about right.

My guess is that money helps but lack of self-awareness and empathy plus big heaping helpings of privilege and arrogance helps still more.

It will be a genuine surprise to them, I think, when they cause society to collapse and then are taken down along with it. They truly see themselves as exempt.
Is there an amount of wealth you can acquire that helps you sleep better at night when, as a specially appointed official representing the US, you side with and embrace a murderous dictator like Putin? Does material wealth make Witkoff feel good about that? How much does it take?

Always follow the money. They can't productize LLMs that seem uncertain or unknowing even 18% of the time. Also, exponentially more compute resources are required to even partially address the problem -- resources that people aren't willing to pay for.

I'm not an artist, just a craftsman (software dev) but one affinity I strongly feel for artists is that, like me, all you have to sell is your time, so you'd be insane to tolerate any form of theft of that time or talent.

Besides, anyone who thinks an LLM is "talented" needs psychiatric help.

There's a reason I've been an independent consultant ever since. Things have only gotten worse.

Which is heavily leveraged in the TRILLIONS of $ in very questionable unregulated financial transactions that will need > $2T / year in annual revenue by the end of the decade to pay back -- revenue that is NOT going to materialize out of this tech.
AOC: Trump has been saying the economy is booming, but it’s really only seven tech companies. They’re driving this growth in just one sector: AI.

So the entire economic growth can be tracked down to seven companies and their AI expansion…
