Trump's tariffs are hurting us in two ways:

First, the obvious: Higher costs → either lower profits or higher prices.

Second, more subtle (perhaps bigger): We’ve signaled we’re an unreliable partner, so allies are reorganizing supply chains to avoid us. That's hard to unwind.

It’s Time for Americans to Start Talking About “Soft Secession”

I don't think people properly appreciate just how badly Trump/Johnson have had to screw this up to achieve these results.
👀 NEW: Americans blame Trump and GOP more than Democrats for shutdown, per new @washingtonpost.com poll.

Independents blame Trump and Republicans more than Democrats by a 2-to-1 margin, 46% to 23%.

Today was great. But friends, please know that NYPD chose to stand back bc white people were overrepresented among marchers

When cops let us assemble peacefully, they're doing so to create contrast w/gatherings of black and brown ppl where cops are violent--so they can blame POC for that violence
ZERO arrests at No Kings in NYC. (And the NYPD isn’t notorious for being sympathetic with people anti-Trump.)

This proves what shameless liars Speaker Mike Johnson & Karoline Leavitt are to slander the participants as violent anarchists.

Even the most repressive states are careful to maintain the pretense of legitimacy. If you get censored it's because you're a foreign agent or a criminal or a sexual deviant who's menacing society. Not because you hurt the Leader's feelings. That looks weak.

Great thread on the case for Trump’s weakness.

I think Trump is rapidly consolidating power because his team has a plan and is willing to act like Trump, as if they will always outlive the consequences.

But:

1. He’s much better at getting out of trouble than his people are.
2. He’s really old.
Trump has nothing on any of his enemies. He is weak. This is not what a powerful leader does.
This is quite the post.

1. He unambiguously directs his AG to go after those who investigated him for his crimes

2. He admits being influenced by online chatter

He is mob bossing out in the open, because he knows he has corrupted every federal law enforcement agency into submission.

CEO of Medium, @coachtony.bsky.social, called @rabble.nz a cicada.

His point? The best writers are “cicadas”: living a full life offline then showing up with something meaningful to share.

That’s why Medium gives writers an audience without forcing burnout or adding to low-quality content.

Trans hate can be loud online, so loud it drowns out other voices.

As @coachtony.bsky.social told me, Medium is more aggressive about moderating trans hate, which in turn helps everyone, not just the trans community.

Because smart moderation makes space for better content to shine.

Most people blame trolls and fake news for what’s wrong with the internet.

But as @coachtony.bsky.social told me, the real issue is an ad-driven business model.

That's why Medium ran experiments to find a model that serves readers and writers.

Full Ep out now.
